1. Swansea Mountain

Swansea might be the first place that comes to mind when you mention mountain biking and Invermere in the same sentence. The trails on the mountain are maintained by the Columbia Valley Cycling Society and are typically in great condition. There’s the option to shuttle to the top, but if you’re looking to burn a calorie or 1,000, you can take the gnarly pedal to the top. Either way, you’ll be rewarded with some of the most spectacular views of the valley (also mentioned in 7 Best Hikes in Invermere). There are a variety of trails, both blue and black, to choose from on Swansea. However, our fan favorites are Hula Girl and South Park. Definitely check out South Park!

The Lake Lillian area has over 17 mountain biking trails, with the most popular ones being Kloosifier and The Johnson. Kloosifier, an intermediate trail, is known as the “roller coaster” trail in the valley for its ups and downs and flowy feel. The Johnson is a black rated trail with some challenging sections, including riding along a steep edge of the canyon. If you’re wondering where to go mountain biking in Invermere, this is a popular pick so be sure to check out these two trails while you’re in the area!

This trail is 8.4 km and 339 m in elevation and very popular for trail runners, hikers and mountain biking. SRL Loop is the perfect trail to get in a fun quick lap (or two) and soak up the views! One of the most scenic rides within a 25-minute drive from Invermere is the Spirit Trail Loop in Fairmont. This 16.7 km trail has an elevation gain of 451 m and offers a stunning ride on the east side of Columbia Lake. The Spirit Trail Loop is more of a cross-country trek than a downhill ride, unlike Swansea, but it’s nonetheless the perfect spot to enjoy a nice summer ride!

  1. I agree with the South park rec! Number one trail in the valley. So flowy with fun rollers to hit. This is definitely a trail that rewards you for the climb, it is long ride down.
